Bringing the Book Manufacturing Process to Life on Screen

Some processes are difficult to explain without seeing them.

CPI Books, one of Europe’s largest book manufacturers, needed a way to clearly showcase their production process to clients without requiring a physical site visit. The goal was to create a factory tour video that could communicate the scale, detail and precision of their operation in a clear and engaging way.

White Video was commissioned to deliver a factory tour video production, combining live-action filming and animation to bring their Croydon facility to life on screen.

The Brief.

CPI Books required a manufacturing process video that could replicate the experience of visiting their facility in person, giving clients and stakeholders a clear understanding of how books are produced.

The film needed to explain each stage of production clearly while showcasing the scale of the facility and remaining accessible to a non-technical audience. It also needed to work as a practical sales and communication tool that could be used across multiple platforms.

The challenge was to translate a complex industrial workflow into a process explainer video that felt simple, structured and easy to follow.

Our Approach.

To make the content accessible, we structured the film around the full journey of a book, from initial print through to final delivery.

We combined live-action footage of the production line with drone footage to establish scale, supported by subtle animation to explain key stages of the process. This approach allowed us to create a manufacturing process video that balanced detail with clarity, ensuring each stage could be understood without overwhelming the viewer.

The focus throughout was on making the process feel logical and easy to follow, rather than overly technical.

Production.

Filming took place at CPI Books’ Croydon facility, capturing real production processes in operation.

As an industrial video production, the project required careful planning to ensure filming could take place safely within a live manufacturing environment without disrupting day-to-day operations. This included working around machinery, coordinating access to key areas, and capturing each stage of the process efficiently.

We focused on capturing a combination of wide shots to establish the scale of the facility alongside detailed, process-driven visuals that clearly showed how each stage of production connects.

In post-production, we developed bespoke animated graphics that transitioned from blueprint-style visuals into real machinery, helping bridge the gap between concept and physical production. A blueprint-style map was also introduced to guide the viewer through the factory, reinforcing the structure of the process and making the journey easy to follow.

The Result.

The final factory tour video provides CPI Books with a clear and engaging way to showcase their manufacturing process without requiring in-person visits.

The content is now used across sales presentations, digital platforms and client communications, giving CPI a consistent and scalable way to explain their production capabilities.

By combining real footage with clear visual explanation, the film works as a manufacturing video production tool that makes complex processes easy to understand.

This type of factory tour video production is particularly effective for manufacturing and industrial businesses looking to communicate complex processes in a clear, accessible way.
