University of Salford
From Marrakesh to London Fashion Week
Some projects are about more than just filming — they’re about capturing creative ambition in a way that feels authentic.
Working with the University of Salford, we produced a fashion film designed to showcase student collections in a visually striking and cinematic way. Filmed on location in Marrakesh, the project combined fashion, landscape and storytelling to create a piece of content that reflected both the creativity of the students and the scale of the production.
The result was a fashion film production that could support both academic presentation and wider promotional use.
The Brief.
The University of Salford required a fashion video production that would showcase student work in a way that felt high-end, considered and visually engaging.
The content needed to capture the individuality of each collection while maintaining a consistent visual style across the film. It also needed to reflect the ambition of the course, positioning the work in a way that felt closer to industry-level fashion content than a traditional academic showcase.
As a university fashion film, the project also needed to balance creativity with clarity, ensuring the work could be understood and appreciated by a wider audience.
Our Approach.
To achieve this, we approached the project as an editorial fashion video rather than a standard event capture.
We focused on movement, atmosphere and visual composition, using the surrounding landscape as an integral part of the storytelling. The Marrakesh desert provided a natural backdrop that added scale, contrast and texture to the film, elevating the presentation of the collections.
This approach allowed us to create a fashion film production that felt visually distinctive while still aligned with the creative direction of the course.
Production.
Filming took place on location in Marrakesh, requiring careful planning and coordination to deliver a smooth production in a remote setting.
Filming internationally also meant working within Moroccan film laws, so we secured the necessary government permits in advance and worked with local handlers to help manage communication on the ground and ensure everything ran smoothly without disruption.
The shoot involved a compact, agile crew supported by multi-camera setups and dynamic camera movement to capture both wide environmental shots and detailed fashion moments. Location scouting played a key role in identifying backdrops that would complement the collections and enhance the overall visual style.
Working closely with students, staff and creative teams on-site, the production remained flexible while maintaining a clear creative direction throughout.
The Result.
The final fashion film provides the University of Salford with a high-quality piece of content that showcases student work in a way that feels professional, considered and visually distinctive.
The film has been used to support course promotion, student portfolios and wider university communications, helping position the work within a more commercial and industry-relevant context.
This type of fashion campaign video is particularly effective for education providers and creative institutions looking to present work in a way that reflects real-world industry standards while maintaining a strong visual identity.
